Advance Your Adventurous Spirit In the Ford Explorer!

When it comes to a vehicle that can go anywhere, do anything, accommodate the whole family, and look darn good doing it, you'd be hard pressed to find an alternative to the successful Ford Explorer. One of the most popular SUVs in the Blue Oval's arsenal, this midsize offering is supremely versatile, and has made an excellent companion for drivers in Meridian, Nampa, Caldwell, and Eagle.

The most noticeable quality about the Explorer is its presence. You won't miss it at any curb or in any parking lot. A mesh grille leads the way, along with chiseled character lines that give it an imposing and athletic demeanor. Functional roof rails add to its rugged appearance, while other functional bits include parking sensors in the bumpers, and on some models, a front-view camera. LED daytime running lights are standard, as are LED low-beam headlamps.

Features of the New Ford Explorer

It's rare to find a seven-seat SUV that can actually seat seven, but the Explorer pulls it off. Additionally, if you fold down the back two rows, you get just shy of 81 cu-ft of cargo volume. That will be plenty-and more than many competitors. For the driver, access to the SYNC3 system is easy, and buttons for climate control and other functions are right at your fingertips. Quality materials can be found throughout, but the Platinum trim leads with leather, chrome, and other appointments.

There are three engines to be found in the Explorer, and all of them can be had with all-wheel or 4WD. The base engine is a 280 horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder with 310 lb-ft of torque, but you can upgrade to a 3.5-liter V6 with 290 horses and 255 lb-ft of torque. The range-topping engine, found on the Sport and Platinum models is a twin-turbo V6 with 365-hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. Driving feel is refined and comfortable, and parking sensors make it easy to navigate tighter spaces.

A base Explorer comes with LED low-beam headlights, a rear-view camera with self-cleaning, cruise control, Ford SYNC, and MyKey. The best way to get more, though is to keep moving up through the trims. Leather seating is standard from the XLT up, as is blind-spot detection, dual-zone climate control, and a moon roof. The most loaded entry is the Platinum trim, which doles out dual chrome exhaust tips, premium audio, and more.
