When you're driving on a dark road, sometimes, it's hard to see what is on the fringes of the road, and there could be people, animals, or road signs. You don't want to be in a collision, or miss an exit because you couldn't see, and Ford is looking at a new way of innovating headlights to help us.
Using infrared sensors, Ford is able to detect humans, animals and other objects based on body heat, and it will focus the attention of the lights toward it so you can see them and adjust accordingly. You'll also get a warning on the interior to stop or brake if you get to close to the object without slowing down. The other headlight works to find road signs, and light those up so you know where to go, and can exit roads safely.
It's currently a prototype being tested, but a good idea that we can't wait to see on new Ford vehicles here at Lithia Ford Lincoln of Boise. To learn more and view current models, stop in to our Boise, ID showroom, and we'd be happy to answer questions and arrange test drives.
