How Do I know if I Need New
Tires?
You should never take your tires for granted as worn out tires can lead
to vehicle safety risks and poor handling. You can easily prolong the
life of your tires through regular tire rotation, but do you know how to
determine if it's time for new tires?
Stop by if you notice:
• Tire tread depth of less than 3/32" or tire treads that don't reach
the top of Lincoln's head on an upside-down penny
• Punctures, cuts or snags in your tire tread or sidewall
• Sudden loss of tire pressure
• Your tire wear indicator is visible
• Sudden vibration when driving
• Poor handling or traction on slippery surfaces
|
Your Tire's Air Pressure is
Important
Did you know that proper tire inflation pressure not
only contributes to the safety of your vehicle but also helps extend the
life of your tires? When a tire is under inflated the
sidewalls of the tire have too much flex in them as they rotate. A
buildup of heat from this flexing makes your tire get too hot and pushes
it outside the range of temperature it was built for. Your best outcome
in this scenario is a 25% faster rate of wear on your tires and the
worst outcome is a failure of your sidewalls. On the
other side of the coin, over-inflated tires carry risk, too; they are
more likely to become damaged with impact on road hazards because they
don't have enough flex. Call our team to find out the
proper tire inflation pressure or consult your owner's manual
|
How Often Do I Need a Tire
Rotation?
It's important to have tire rotation performed
regularly on your vehicle as this helps spread the wear on your tires in
a uniform way, and helps you extend the life of your tires. You should
have your tires rotated every 3,000 to 8,000 miles depending on what
type of vehicle you own and what type of driving you
do. Our tire technicians will recommend the proper
tire rotation schedule to give you the best results for your
tires. If you have different sized tires on the front
and rear of your vehicle, or you require unidirectional tires, you'll
need to follow a specific rotation pattern, which our team is trained to
follow.
